GTA 6 Preload & File Size: Download and Storage Guide
When GTA 6 preload starts, what the 210 GB report does and does not confirm, and how to estimate your download time without assuming a final size.

Digital preorders can preload from local midnight on November 12, 2026, according to Rockstar Support. The game releases November 19. Preloading downloads the files; playing starts when your purchase unlocks. See the regional release-time explanation.
If you bought a boxed copy, it contains a code instead of a disc. Rockstar expects shipping and pickup to begin November 12, and says received codes can be redeemed for preload. Check your retailer's delivery timing and the code's account region.
Is GTA 6 really a 210 GB download?
Recent reports attribute a 210 GB PS5 figure to PlayStation Game Size. That is a reported figure, not a final download requirement published by Rockstar in the official sources checked here. It also cannot establish the Xbox Series X or Series S size. Use the requirement shown for your platform when it becomes available.

Those numbers need not match. An Xbox preorder placeholder is not the final game, and a social post about PS5 storage does not establish a mandatory day-one patch size.
Set up an automatic download on PS5
PlayStation's general preorder instructions use Game Library → your preorder → the countdown to select automatic download content. Also check the console's internet and rest-mode download settings. This is the platform's general procedure, not a hands-on test of GTA 6's preload.
If you cannot find the download, first check the purchasing account, the order and the listed availability. Buying with one account and browsing another library can hide the expected entitlement.
What should Xbox owners check?
Check the purchase under the Microsoft account used to order, then the console library and current product listing. Microsoft distinguishes a downloaded preorder package from permission to launch it. An installed placeholder or an unavailable Play button does not establish an error before release.
How long will the download take?
Enter the size shown by your platform and a measured download speed. If you test a reported size, treat the result as a scenario. The calculator starts empty and cannot measure your connection or verify GTA 6's final size.
Plan your download
Enter a size and a measured speed. Use a decimal point without thousands separators, for example 100.5. The game size is not filled in for you.
Decimal GB; 1 GB = 8,000 megabits. Network limits, pauses, verification, and installation can add time. Space results compare only your inputs; they do not guarantee the game will install.
For a hypothetical 100 GB at 100 Mbps, transfer time rounds up to 2 hours 14 minutes. Mbps means megabits per second; MB/s means megabytes per second. A speed in MB/s needs multiplying by eight before entering the Mbps field. Verification, installation, congestion and pauses can add time.
Check your edition and code before planning the download.
