Standard buys the base game; Ultimate adds the Ultimate Edition Upgrade. Start with Standard if you mainly want the story. Choose Ultimate if you want its listed extras enough to pay the difference. Rockstar says those bonuses are distributed through Jason and Lucia's story, so buying them does not mean every extra is available immediately.

What does Ultimate add?
Rockstar Support names the ’95 Grotti Cheetah, Hawk & Little Morgan Revolvers, Vice City Styles and Rideout Customs Mod Shop among the Ultimate extras. These are examples from the official list, not the full list or measured performance benefits. Compare the named items on the linked support page before paying for content you may not want.
Can you upgrade later?
Yes. Rockstar Support confirms a separate Ultimate Edition Upgrade through both PlayStation and Microsoft stores. A boxed Standard owner must redeem the base-game code first. Check the add-on's actual price; subtracting the two full-edition prices is not proof of what the upgrade costs.
Preorder bonuses and the GTA+ offer
The Vintage Vice City Pack is separate from Ultimate's extras. The US PS Store offer covers qualifying digital Standard or Ultimate purchases through November 19, 2026, with one month of GTA+ to claim before March 31, 2027. The membership then renews at the regular monthly price until canceled. Buying the upgrade alone does not qualify for that offer.
GTA+ is a subscription benefit, not evidence of an announced GTA 6 Online launch or free multiplayer. Read the store's eligibility and redemption terms rather than assuming every boxed or retailer offer includes it.
Does the boxed version have a disc?
No disc is included in the boxed version described by Rockstar Support. It contains a download code. A physical Ultimate edition is not offered in that document; boxed Standard buyers can upgrade digitally after redemption. You still need the download, storage and an eligible platform account.
Will an imported code work?
Rockstar recommends buying in the country of your platform account. Its PlayStation code list groups the United States and Canada together, while the United Kingdom has a separate group. That is a code-redemption rule, not a promise about every retailer, refund or Xbox code. Check the exact product region before buying an import.
